The new motor utilizes a combination of ABB high voltage motor design expertise and the M3BP platform of ABB low voltage cast iron motors. The motor features excellent starting characteristics making it suitable for pumps, fans and compressors. The new design has low noise levels and low vibration. IP65 protection is available, mainly due to a patent design valve that closes the grease output channel. Of the protection types for hazardous areas, the motor is available as non-sparking, Eex nA II T3 and dust ignition proof motors for zones 21 and 22. Both types are ATEX certified. The motor can also be CSA certified for Class I, Division 2, Groups ABCD, T3 temp. code or Class 2, Division 2, Groups EFG or Class III.

Haydon now offers an optional solid state end of stroke sensor for its entire line of hybrid linear actuators. The sensor is capable of monitoring the end position of linear actuators and incorporates a hall effect device, which is activated by a rare earth magnet embedded in the end of the internal screw. The compact profile of the sensor allows for installation in limited space applications. The sensor has virtually unlimited cycle life and a wide temperature compensated operating range (­55°C to 150°C). It has a supply voltage range of 3.8 to 24 volts DC and a digital current sinking output of up to 20 mA. An analog option can be provided as well as special cabling and connectors.

The '+' (Plus) Series of industrial controllers feature an easy to use programming interface and a "plug and play" options format designed to reduce customer inventories. The new line includes 1/16, 1/8 and 1/4 DIN size models sold under DICG's West and Partlow brands. The new controllers give engineers more flexible control over processes by providing dual setpoints that can be selected from a remote location. Each '+' series controller has a communications port that can receive setpoint changes from a remote operator, PLC or factory control software. The remote setpoint input can be an analog voltage or current or potentiometer setting. In addition, the user can toggle between auto and manual control by a remote digital command or from the front panel.

The NI PXI-735x motion controller is available in three new axis configurations. Complementing the original PXI-7358 8-axis version, the PXI-7352, PXI-7354 and PXI-7356 modules offer 2, 4 and 6-axis versions of the stepper or servo motion controller. Each PXI-735x module can be programmed using NI LabVIEW, NI LabWindows CVI, NI Measurement Studio for Microsoft Visual Basic, C and C++. The modules also offer additional I/O -- including eight total encoders, 64 bits of discrete I/O and eight 16-bit analog inputs -- which, in some cases, eliminate the need to purchase a separate data acquisition module.

Expanding its position sensor offering for hazardous locations, MTS introduced the TempGuard II explosion-proof, high pressure housing for Class I, Division I, Groups A, B, C and D areas. Sold as an integrated, IP68 sealed, stainless steel sensor package, the TempoGuard II prevents ignition of flammable gasses and vapours by containing possible combustion within the sealed housing. The sensor provides reliable, accurate magnetostrictive position sensing in a safe package. TempoGuard II provides hazardous environment sensing for applications such as position feedback in power generation and petrochemical plants as well as mining and seismic measurements.

The URG1 stepper motors are just 13mm in diameter and 11m in length. These miniature stepper motors offer precise operation at up to 2500 steps per second. They are IP40 rated, weigh less than 7g, can operate in temperatures ranging from -20°C to +60°C and are designed to provide reliable operation for lower duty cycle applications. Custom versions are available. URG1 series steppers are a viable option in applications such as print systems, smart card terminals, cameras and microscopes, appliance display systems, medical equipment and computer peripherals, along others. Because of their low power consumption and compact size, these motors are ideal for mobile and battery applications.

Uhing rolling ring linear drives now offer a free movement lever (F-lever) as a standard feature making it possible to slide the drive unit, with its attached load, anywhere along the shaft without having to turn on the motor. The F-lever reduces wear and tear on the system by eliminating the need to "jog" the motor on and off to maneuver the drive head into place. Sliding the drive while the system is stopped saves time and reduces wear on the motor, components and rolling ring bearings, which extends the drive system's life. Designers and production personnel may consider Uhing drives with the F-lever for production environments demanding frequent, rapid re-positioning of the drive head.

Kerk offers lead screw, linear rail, spline shaft and ScrewRail® actuator assemblies with its Kerkote® TFE coating. Kerkote reduces friction and extends the life of maintenance-free assemblies, which are ideal for motion control applications in a variety of industries. The coating is evenly distributed, decreasing erratic drag torques and unpredictable wear. Since it is a dry lubricant, Kerkote will not become dry and paste-like, and does not attract dirt or debris.

The BVS58/BVM58 series AS-Interface Absolute Rotary Encoders are available in two versions: single-turn with 13-bit resolution or multi-turn with 16-bit resolution. The R208 driver is compact in design with low power dissipation and automatic current reduction. It is able to provide up to 2.0 amps of phase current to any bipolar step motor.
