ACCELEROMETERS
are intrinsically safe

Wilcoxon has received Intrinsic Safety certification for two of its accelerometer series: the 786 and 787. These accelerometers are now rated to operate in hazardous areas in accordance with the Canadian, U.S. and European standards. It means that the 786 IS series and 787 IS series units can be used where flammable or explosive materials are present without causing electrical sparks or "hot spots" strong enough to cause ignition of gases or dusts in the air. The 786 IS series of top exit accelerometers includes an integral cable model and a dual output accelerometer with temperature sensor. The 787 IS series are side exit units, and include an optional modified mounting stud.

MULTI-CHANNEL FIBER OPTIC CONTROLLER
reduces wiring

This fiber-optic controller is designed for multiple sensing point applications. The controller reduces excessive wiring for multiple fiber applications with a single cable. The LCD operator interface is used to program fibers with the controller's pushbutton programming and user menu. The controller is able to perform and/or logic functions used in applications such as error proofing and inspection. For applications that require more feedback such as contrast detection and part verification, a single fiber can be programmed for up to two switchpoints. The compact, mechanically robust fiber optic controller is available in 2-, 4-, 6- and 8-fiber models that are DIN-rail mountable.

MULTI-AXIS MOTION CONTROLLER
simplifies and speeds the closed loop tuning process

The Tuning Wizard is a new RMC 100 multi-axis motion controller feature that speeds and simplifies the process of computing optimal gains for closed-loop motion control. It helps select appropriate gains for a position axis -- and answers the often asked question, "where do I begin?" This easy-to-use RMCWin software tool guides the user through a step-by-step process to import axis data. The Tuning Wizard then uses this information to build a set of mathematical system models and determines which model best fits the real system. The Tuning Wizard next prompts the user to set the desired system response between "conservative and aggressive" using a single slider bar and computes the optimum PID and feed forward gains.

EMERGENCY STOP PUSHBUTTONS
available in a number of types

A special safety contact block prevents contact elements on the PITestop from being released without detection. PITestop emergency shop pushbuttons in conjunction with PILZ control technology supply a complete safety solution for a wide range of industrial applications. The PITestop is available in a number of different types. A black ring at the actuator base makes it easy to detect when it has been operated, even from a distance. The unit is also available with illumination and with a black actuator to issue a STOP for an area shutdown.

THRU-BEAM SENSOR
offers versatility and dependability

The BWL L-shaped thru-beam sensor offers versatility and dependability in hard-duty applications where the sensor may be physically contacted or for applications where a fork-style thru-beam design will not fit. The self-contained BWL houses an intense infrared emitter in a rugged, zinc-plated steel housing that can resist multiple impacts without loss of function. Its IR light beam will cut through heavily contaminated air with ample reserve capacity and its configuration promotes easy installation in a wide variety of applications. These include single and side-by-side dual-track conveyor systems, destacking processes, parts misalignment, and sensing large objects such as metal plates or completed assemblies.

AS-INTERFACE TOOLS
for network improvement

Three new AS-interface tools help implement an effective AS-I network. The Bus Terminator potentially allows you to double the total length of an AS-interface network. Since the unit has a fixed value, the AS-I analyzer must be used to check and record the quality of the installation. The AS-interface Tuner can almost triple the total network length by strengthening the communication signal and monitoring network performance. The AS-interface analyzer complements the diagnostic capabilities already available with the AS-interface Master. The analyzer easily detects errors and continuously monitors the AS-I network.

ALL-PLASTIC BUTTERFLY VALVES
feature large diameter

A new line of all-plastic butterfly valves features a special fabricated design that makes it feasible to make changes in the valve body that would be either impossible or prohibitively expensive with valves of standard moulded construction. These large diameter fabricated butterfly valves range in sizes from 14 to 24 inches. They are specially designed to take into account application parameters encountered in larger size piping systems. The rugged one-piece plastic body, in PVC, Natural PPL or PVDF, stands up to the high flow rates and elevated stress conditions on larger size systems.
