INVENTORY MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE
increases batch picking throughput

As a wave of orders is downloaded from the host into FastPic inventory management software, the software automatically sorts the wave for commonality. Orders with common SKU profiles are grouped into batches. These batches of orders are then queued at the workstation for picking to start. The operator inducts the first batch at their PC and the carousels pre-position themselves to be picked. The operator scans a license plate bar code on the tote or shipping container and matches it with put-lights on the workstation. The Pick Light Towers then indicate the carousel, the shelf level, the SKU and quantity to be picked. The operator makes the pick, turns to the workstation and places the correct items into the totes or shipping containers as directed by the put-lights.

DATA READERS
offer high speed product identification

The MAC34x family of data matrix readers are fixed mount matrix readers for product identification or online data recording. The MAC340 offers a scan distance of 32 millimeters and depth of field of +/-3 millimeters while the MAC344 offers a scan distance of 90 millimeters and a depth of field of +/-7 millimeters. Both feature a digital signal processor that works in real time for a processing rate of approximately 150 million instructions per second. Decoding and data supply takes place in the reader. The unit reads data matrix codes omni-directionally, making it unnecessary to read codes only on the top of cylindrical objects. Codes may be placed anywhere on the item and still be readable.

COMPACT LASER SCANNER
has new features

The DS2100 laser scanner features the ACB™ (Advanced Code Builder) software function to decode partially damaged or normally unreadable bar codes due to their high tilt angle. Scanning speed is up to 500-800 scans/s for the standard models and 800-1000 scans/s for the Testarossa models, which also offer ambient light immunity. This high scan rate combined with the ACM™ software helps the DS2100A read and decode codes on targets that move at irregular speeds and/or are not always perfectly aligned or printed well. The new electronic design enables the unit to read even when it is skewed at 45°.

AUTOMATIC STRETCH WRAPPERS
feature new touchscreen control

Lantech is introducing a new touchscreen control for all its automated stretch wrap systems, providing a new range of productivity advantages that includes five pre-programmed wrap patterns which can be changed by the user and switched on the fly. The control readily accommodates custom wrap patterns with separate settings for film overlap (up and down) as standard. The control upgrade includes a new ANSI-compliant signal light and horn for alarms, a complete alarm history, animated "help" screens keyed to faults, and combination starters for all motors to eliminate fuses. The new control eliminates the need for a laptop PC to change standard program timers or monitor the PLC I/O for troubleshooting.

REUSABLE CONTAINERS
provide tamper-resistant features

The FlapNest™ 2115 series container features all-plastic hinges that are tamper resistant and tamper evident. They also enable safer handling, longer life and increased recycle value. When the lid flaps of the containers are secured closed with safety straps, ties, or clips, it is impossible for someone to insert their hands into the containers and withdraw the contents without using tools and leaving behind permanent, visible damage to the containers. The containers also include other enhanced security features for strapping, tie wraps and snap-on clips.
