OIL-INJECTED SCREW COMPRESSORS

Atlas Copco is introducing a new range of premium oil-injected rotary screw compressors from 30 to 90 kW. The GA Plus WorkPlace Air System range features an integrated water separator device which reduces the pressure drop, saving on energy. The new air/oil separation system will dramatically lower oil carry over and pressure drop results in less downstream contamination of equipment. A no-loss electronic condensate drain removes condensate, using virtually no moving parts, without wasting compressed air. All units are rated for ambient temperatures of up to 46°C as standard.

SCROLL VACUUM PUMP/COMPRESSOR

The semi-hermetic scroll vacuum pump/compressor is available in a variety of materials, with appropriate seals, that allows it to handle almost any gas other than air, including radioactive material, bio-hazardous gases, helium, nitrogen, oxygen, natural gas and other corrosive and hazardous gases. The vacuum pump/compressor is ideal for medical and bio-medical applications, fuel cells, natural gas boosters and handling of radioactive materials. A full-hermetic design is also available.

REFRIGERATED AIR DRYERS

The IDFB*E series of refrigerated air dryers is designed for use in general industry, including packaging, printing, machine tool, medical and semiconductor industry to provide dry and clean compressed air to extend the life of the machinery and reduce the downtime and maintenance costs. SMC's refrigerated dryers are built with high efficiency stainless steel heat exchanger providing long life and low pressure drops and are UL listed up to sizes covering 160-scfm flows. The dryers use environmental friendly R143a/R407C refrigerant to provide pressure dew point of 37°C and have a simple control system, incorporating easy to read evaporator gauge.

SCROLL COMPESSORS

Benchmark is introducing a technological breakthrough for compressors. The "Hot Oil Over Protector", or HOOP, is a proprietary technology designed to minimize the time it takes to detect a thermal fault condition and react to protect the compressor. HOOP uses hot oil to quickly trip the motor protector and prevent a compressor failure. When high temperatures are detected in a Benchmark scroll, HOOP technology channels hot oil directly onto the motor's bi-metal protector, which trips the motor much more quickly than hot gas. The amount of time the scroll is operating in thermal fault conditions is minimized, and so is the potential damage caused.

HARSH ENVIRONMENT FILTERS

Parker Hannifin's new line of harsh environment stainless steel filters removes 99.99% of oil, water, rust and pipescale particles of 0.01 micron in size and larger from compressed air and other gases. The filters are available in 1/4" to 1" line sizes with flow capacities to over 700 SCFM. Constructed of 304 stainless, these filters will stand up to the harshest environments such as food and beverage, chemical plants, refineries and pulp and paper mills. The product line comes complete with auto drains and a high efficiency filter cartridge installed.

VARIABLE SPEED DRIVE COMPRESSORS

Sullair has enhanced its 3700 series of 40, 50, and 60 horsepower compressors with the Sullair Variable Speed Drive - the Sullair 3000V, 3700V, and 4500V. The Variable Speed Drive allows compressors to easily and efficiently adjust to fluctuating compressed air demand - either seasonal changes in demand, or from shift-to-shift. The 3700V provides improved operating consistency, and relief from potential peak demand charges, thanks to its ability to adjust to changes in air demand. The compressors feature a simplified WS microprocessor, low sound levels and a small footprint.

ELECTRONIC FLOW CONTROL

The EFC™ is a user-friendly electronic flow control for compressed air that is designed to minimize compressed air use on blowoff, drying, cooling, conveying and static elimination operations. The EFC combines a photoelectric sensor with a timing control that limits compressed air use by turning it off when no part is present. The timing control of the EFC permits easy tuning to the application requirements with numerous valve operating modes and timing delays. The compact photoelectric sensor has a sensitivity adjustment and detects objects up to 1 meter away.

INDUSTRIAL AIR COMPRESSORS

A new series of air compressors: the Sullair 3000, Sullair 3700, and Sullair 4500 are designed for point-of-use facility installations. Available in 40, 50 and 60 horsepower models, the compressors were engineered to make service and routine maintenance faster, simpler and more efficient, minimizing production downtime and creating a clean, safe work environment. All standard compressor maintenance can be performed from one side of the machine and the compressor's fluid level can be checked without opening the doors. The series also features a fully sealed environmental protection plan to capture spills that may occur during servicing.

BELT DRIVEN ROTARY SCREW COMPRESSOR

The 7.5 to 15 horsepower Global Belt Drive (QGB) series of rotary screw compressors is designed for small operations that demand reliable heavy-duty equipment. The QGB is available from the factory on a receiver, making installation as simple as running power to the unit and compressed air away. With pressure ranges from 100 to 175 psig, the series features sound levels of 59 to 62 dB(A) and a small footprint. The units also feature an interactive digital controller, totally-enclosed fan-cooled (TEFC) motor and optional integrated dryer.

OIL-FREE COMPRESSED AIR

Atlas Copco announces that the company's Z series of oil-free rotary screw air compressors is TUV certified ISO 8573-1 CLASS O. Risk of any contamination by oil is effectively eliminated during food and beverage processing, pharmaceuticals manufacturing and packaging, electronics manufacturing, automotive paint spraying and powder coating as well as textile manufacturing. Certification was carried out using the most stringent test methods available, simulating realistic industrial installation environments. At all test conditions, no traces of oil could be determined and the compressed air was certified to be in the Category 'Class 0' in terms of oil content.
