STEPPER MOTORS

The new AS1xxx stepper motors provide an alternative to servo motors in the small and medium capacity ranges. Different stepper motor types in this series have nominal current ratings from 1.0A to 5.0A and torques ranging between 0.38 Nm and 5 Nm. The AS1xxx series can be used as actuators or auxiliary axes for numerous machine designs and automation applications. In conjunction with the KL2531 and KL2541 steeper motor I/O Bus Terminals and TwinCAT automation software, axes can be easily integrated into any stepper application without the need for remote amplifiers.

Beckhoff Automation

Hoffman's newly redesigned CONCEPT® Operator Interface Enclosure series includes twenty standard enclosures which have been designed for pendant or pedestal mounted controls to deliver functional and attractive integration of new generation flat screen OI devices including touch screens and LCD monitors, as well as pushbuttons and other traditional control schemes. These enclosures reflect the requirements of flat screens, providing more sizes and options for the profusion of computer-driven controls.

National Instruments has released its new CANopen LabVIEW Library, making it easy for engineers to create industrial control and measurement applications with connectivity to hundreds of industrial CANopen devices, including motion drives, sensors and distributed I/O. The new library is a collection of high-level, easy-to-use NI LabVIEW functions that convert high-speed NI Series 1 Controller Area Network (CAN) devices into fully functional CANopen master interfaces.

The Command Stamp Brake Press Control unit improved the safety of brake press operations in compliance with the CSA Safety Standard Z142-02 which became mandatory in December 2004. The control installs directly into existing brake press control panels and ties together all the safety guards and monitoring devices on brake presses with diverse redundancy in order to verify and maintain safe brake press operations. The control has a large illuminated system display screen for displaying operational modes and system faults.

Reflex Integration

The CTV-1500 cooling tower vacuum with filter will quickly remove slime, algae, mud and other contaminants from the sides and floor of any cooling tower basin or sump without the need to drain the system. It features an adjustable flow control to allow the operator to clean at the desired recovery rate up to 50 gpm. The unit also eliminates the direct handling of dangerous cooling tower bacteria and other microorganisms. The vacuum can be used while the cooling tower is in operation, eliminating system downtime.

Goodway Technologies Corporation

Bird-Proof bird repellent compound discourages birds from alighting and nesting for a year or more, even under the most extreme weather conditions. The chemical compound has a tacky, uncomfortable feeling that birds avoid -- as people avoid walking on wet tar -- it "feels" unpleasant; yet, it's harmless, odourless, nonpoisonous and environmentally friendly. Two formulations -- gel and liquid -- serve all applications and are easy to apply to any surface.

OMEGA

The Tote-It® portable oil skimmer has been redesigned to include a new removable trough that makes clean up and oil disposal easier. The new design also allows customers to upgrade to wider belt sizes, as their oil removal volumes expand, without replacing the entire oil skimmer unit. The unit removes up to 45 lph of free-floating oil from water. The single assembly unit, weighing 16 kilograms, is easy to move around a facility and can also be used in permanent installations with limited access areas.

The WaveBreak™ bucket system is designed to reduce water movement in the bucket and prevent large amounts of water from splashing out, thereby reducing hazardous spills on the floor. With this innovative bucket structure and a dual bucket system separating dirty water from clean water, WaveBreak™ provides hygiene and productivity. It has a proprietary design that incorporates two moulded-in wave "baffles" that interrupt wave formation. Suppressing water movement in the bucket reduces splashing and spilling, reducing wet floor hazards.

Rubbermaid Commercial Products, LLC

The Brute 2550 heavy duty conveyor transfers parts between processes and operations. It can be designed as an oval or "L" shaped loop and excels in highly abrasive applications: castings, glass chips, sandy environments. The Brute 2550 allows a host of line components to operate as one unit (non-synchronous part flow) ensuring maximum throughput. Parts are accurately fixtured on custom pallets and can be automatically diverted to multiple operations.

Arbor Automation

Probes that permit ultrasonic inspection to be performed in difficult-to-access areas are now offered as options to UE Systems' line of ultrasonic detectors. These sensors plug into the company's pistol-shaped instruments, allowing accurate readings of pressurized gas leaks such as compressed air and steam or vacuum leaks in tight places. Models include: U-Bend, a bendable probe that fits Ultraprobe digital models 10,000 and 9,000 and analog models 2000 and 100. Tele-Bend is a telescoping version available for Ultraprobe 10,000, 9000 and 2000 which extends up to 56" to reach overhead or hard-to-reach targets.

UE Systems

ATTC has introduced a new line of anti-reflection coating for their focusing lenses. The coating achieves absorption rates as low as 18%, the lowered absorption rate allows the lens to retain less heat which allows the lenses to run cooler and last longer. The line is available in both Plano Convex and Meniscus style and in many diameters and thicknesses.

Schneider Electric Canada introduces its new generation of Simply Smart* Industrial AC Drives for 3-phase asynchronous motors from 0.5 up to 900 HP, keeping the emphasis on simplicity and openness to all communication networks. The Altivar 71, dedicated to all industrial applications, is complemented by the Altivar 61, the drive specialist for pumps and fans. They provide solutions to meet any requirement for complex and/or high power machines (material handling, hoisting, wood machines, process machines, packaging, pumps, multi-pump, pumpjacks, fans, and more).

Designed specifically for waste water professionals, KSB's new HELPS software is a comprehensive planning tool that can provide virtually all of the information needed to select and configure pumps and pump accessories for wet- or dry-well installations. The planning tool not only recommends the appropriate pump family and capacity/power ratings for the municipal or industrial wastewater application, but also provides CAD drawings that outline installation options.

KSB Pumps Inc.

Ruland has expanded its line of zero-backlash jaw couplings to include more compliant spider elements for applications where greater shock absorption is desired. Zero-backlash jaw couplings are three-piece couplings comprised of two hubs with curved jaws and an elastic element. The spider, made of an advanced polyurethane material, provides dampening of impulse type loads, minimizing shock to the motor and other sensitive equipment. Spider elements of three different hardness levels are offered with each represented by a different colour.

A new family of single-LED moulded light guides uses Global Lighting Technologies' patented MicroLens™ technology. The backlights can be designed in sizes from 0.24" diagonal to 15.4" diagonal to provide single LED monochrome, bi-colour or tri-colour backlights. Applications include microdisplays used in digital still cameras and camcorders, Gen 3 mobile phone displays, PDA keypads, programmable touchscreen thermostats, home security system controller keypads, fish finders, instrumentation and control panels.

Three new miniature open frame magnetic latching solenoids -- B16L, B17L and C5L -- are each well suited for battery operation while providing strokes up to 0.18 inches and forces up to 3 pounds. They offer up to 100,000 cycles with moderate force output. These solenoids provide intermittent duty, on/off operation, and pull-in engagement well suited to lock/latch operations. They are particularly well suited for applications where the solenoid needs to remain in an energized position for extended periods of time and are also a solution for volume applications.

Baumer Electric has expanded its line of optical rotary encoders used to monitor speed, position and direction of rotation. Extech announces its two-inch battery operated thermal printers for field service applications. When paired with mobile computers, the printers increase efficiency and accuracy, streamline basic functions like billing, and save time and money. Weighing less than one pound with the battery and paper installed, the printer is easily worn on a belt. Extech's two-inch printers are a key component in a mobile computing solution.

Extech Data Systems

Caps'n Plugs has introduced a new line of ergonomic grips designed to add comfort and improved gripping power for consumer products. The line includes round grips, finger grabber grips and hanger grips. Manufactured using the dip-moulding process, the grips are offered in a wide range of colours and are made from tough, durable PVC and foam. Grips are also available in many sizes and lengths. The finger grabber grips provide slip resistant grooves that make them suitable for many products including bicycles, broom, shovel and lever handles, as well as all types of lawn and garden tools.

Caps'n Plugs

The Direct In-Feeder system is capable of feeding difficult stocks such as envelopes and thin paper products. Along with feeding a variety of envelopes and fine paper stocks, the Direct In-Feeder system easily adjusts to feed other flat products including CDs, DVDs, catalogues and magazines. With dimensions of 50.8 x 39.4 cm, it is easily integrated into any material handling line, or can function as a stand alone unit. Its load capacity of 29.2cm minimizes user intervention, since operators can simply pack the feeder and walk away.

PSI Engineering

Vacuum cups made from anti-static materials are available as small as 2mm in diameter and fit virtually any type of vacuum equipment used for the placement of parts. They are ideal for handling electronics parts and components, injection moulded parts, as well as applying labels, pick-and-place operations, packaging applications, and more. Schneider Electric's new RM4 Telemecanique Zelio monitoring and control relays guarantee detection of breakdowns and faults in industrial control systems. They enable three-phase network monitoring, AC and DC current and voltage measurement (50 mV to 500V, and from 3 mA to 15A) and manage conducting liquid level control. These relays are ideally suited for automotive, machining, conveying, packaging, mining, petrochemical, sawmills, pulp/paper and water/wastewater applications.

BLUESHIELD™ welding wires are now available in new high-capacity hex drums. Intended primarily for high-output, high-productivity metal fabrication shops, one hex drum is roughly the equivalent of 18 regular spools of welding wire. Hex drums are mounted on individual pallets for convenient handling. Wire is easily fed into welding machines when the hex drum is used with the exclusive pay-off cone. Empty drums are quickly and easily disassembled, collapsed and recycled.

Air Liquide Canada Inc.

The industrial duty TracMaster™ electromechanical linear actuator is designed for demanding applications and for load capacities up to 500 lbs. Load dependent travel speeds are available up to 143 inches per minute. Standard stroke lengths range from 3" to 18", although custom lengths can be accommodated. Load ratings are the same for both tension and compression applications. The TracMaster actuator features an aluminum housing outlet tube and a plated inner translating tube with double clevis ends.

Duff Norton

The new highly accurate FMG600 series electromagnetic flow meters are designed for the measurement of conductive liquids with virtually no pressure loss. With no moving parts and a PTFE lining, they can handle applications involving wastewater, pulp, food and slurries. Standard outputs include analog, frequency, and RS485 communications. Optional sanitary tri-clamp mounting allows use of FMG600 flowmeters in applications not previously open to magmeters. NIST 3-point calibration is included.

OMEGA

Designed for clean room environments, THK's new Type CKR actuator offers low dust generating and corrosion-resistant features. For reduced dust generation, the Type CKR incorporates a unique sealing mechanism that achieves cleanliness of Class 4 under the ISO14644-1:1999. It has externally mounted suction coupling for particle collection. AEF grease is utilized to generate an extremely low level of particles. To resist corrosion, the LM rail and ball screw are surface treated.

THK

The "W" series anti-backlash nuts are designed to optimize system stiffness without sacrificing life or increasing drag torque. Haydon has developed a unique, patent pending method of preloading the threaded nut halves to provide a system that maximizes system stiffness while reducing drag torque. The nut design compensates for wear while eliminating lock-up issues common when traversing from worn areas to unworn areas of the screw. The anti-backlash nuts are suited for applications that require precise positioning as they eliminate the minimal backlash between the leadscrew and nut interface. They are available in a wide range of diameters and leads.

Haydon Switch & Instrument, Inc.

The LVP series stainless steel vane pump features 14 Bar/200 psi thin liquid capability and capacities up to 45m3/hr (200 gpm). The pumps are designed for thin, corrosive liquids at high pressures and provide application flexibility, simple installation, and ease of maintenance. Its stainless steel casing is surface-hardened to 62 Rockwell C, reducing case and vane wear. The standard chrome oxide coated shaft and silicon carbide bushings are extremely hard and long-lasting. The series is also maintenance-friendly, allowing complete draining and easy vane or seal replacement without removing the pump from its system.
