LASER DISTANCE SENSOR

The OADM 13 is a medium distance triangulation laser with range up to 550mm. A compact design (13.4 x 40 x 48.2mm) and high resolution ideally complement the existing OADM 12 and OADM 20 sensors. The triangulation principle, precision optics, and intelligent software permit resolutions up to 10 um at a measuring rate of 900 us. Using the 2-point teach-in process standardized by Baumer electric, the measuring range can be easily adapted to the application. This allows the full resolution to be used for each different measurement task. The OADM 13 is fully self-contained and requires no external amplifier or electronics.

STAINLESS STEEL SWITCHES

These stainless steel switches, designed for use in harsh environments, offer protection against water, dirt, chemicals, heat, shock and impact. Suitable for operating equipment in polluted factories and hazardous environments, these stainless steel pushbutton switches and indicators are available in 22.5mm and 30.5mm sizes. Also available are stainless steel switches with LED illumination for use in poor lighting conditions, They can also be laser engraved with specific symbols and legends that will not wear off or corrode.

VISION SENSORS

The PresencePLUS(r)S P4 OMNI and P4 OMNI 1.3 vision sensors combine all P4 vision inspection and analysis tools into one self-contained housing. The complete range of tools -- including GEP, Gray Scale, Blob, Edge, Object and optional Bar Code Reader -- makes it easy to robustly inspect for multiple features. The P4 OMNI offers 540 x 480 pixel resolution for accurate analysis at high speeds and the P4 OMNI 1.3 features 1280 x 1024 resolution for extra detail or extended sensing field of view. TOGGLE SWITCHES

The 3500 series of RoHS-compliant sealed toggle switch features molded-in terminal inserts and a silicone membrane seal for IP67 front panel sealing. The 3500 series is ideal for use in demanding applications and is well-suited for outdoor use. Typical applications include off-highway, agriculture, aviation, military, marine and industrial machinery. The switch carries an electrical life of 10,000 cycles at 15A, 28VDC and a mechanical life of 40,000 cycles. Operating temperature range: ­65C -- +85C. PHOTOELECTRIC SENSOR

This new line of photoelectric sensors named the "OG Basic Line" features extended sensing ranges and stainless steel housing for rugged industrial automation applications. The sensor's industry-standard M18 threaded housing is constructed of 316 stainless steel and features an integrated PMMA lens. Extended sensing ranges enable the sensor to be placed further away from the target which provides protection against mechanical damage in harsh applications. Sensing ranges include 20 meters for thru-beam; 4 meters for polarized retro-reflective and 250mm for diffuse background suppression with potentiometer setup for precise applications.

PHOTOELECTRIC SENSORS

The ML4.2 photoelectric sensors provide optimum background suppression sensing capabilities in a compact 14mm x 18mm x33mm housing. Targets are precisely detected at ranges up to 80mm, while background objects just millimeters away are ignored. Colour insensitivity is less than 10%, so targets are reliably detected regardless of colour. A glass lens and anti-static housing makes this series particularly well suited for printing and paper environments in which multi-coloured targets and dust are prevalent. All ML4.2 models feature tamper-proof fixed sensing ranges, cross-talk immunity, as well as 4-in-1™ technology that allows for four automatically selected output configurations from a single sensor.

PRESSURE SWITCH

The Mercoid new series CX Compressor Pressure Switch for pump and motor control features an adjustment set point and deadband to help make the series CX useable in a variety of applications. With the 20A electrical rating, the series can even be used for direct control of pumps and motors. The switch is not mounting sensitive. There are 1 port and 4 port models which eases installation. The CX series switch is ideal for regulating tank pressures on small air compressors. These switches come with a un-loader valve, which prevents compressors from starting under load. They also come with an auto/off disconnect lever for manually cutting off the load

pH SENSORS

The new generation PERpH-X(tm) line of Rosemount(r) Analytical models 3300HT and 3400HT high temperature pH sensors perform longer in temperatures up to 145C. Specialized design features include: AccuGlass(tm) pH glass formulations which resist cracking and maintain near theoretical response even at extreme pH values and after exposure to very high temperature applications. These new formulations require less frequent calibration and increased sensor life and improved double junction reference that can be refilled for extreme applications that may deplete reference electrolyte.

SENSOR MOUNTING SYSTEM

Balluff's new BMS Sensor Mounting System maximizes sensor usefulness on the production line by enabling users to quickly and easily position sensors at virtually any angle. Available in both plastic and metal versions, the new system uses a small number of standard components to provide mounting flexibility in all three axis. Even complex configurations can be realized in just a few minutes. Dimensionally stable, the mounting system uses knurled pins to hold position during sensor replacement. The basic holder accommodates virtually any manufacturer- specific mounting profile.

ACCELEROMETERS AND ELECTRONIC COMPASS MODULES

The AMI 201 & AMI 302 are electronic compass modules with the AMI 201 sensing 2 axes while the AMI 302 sensing 3 axes. These sensors are suitable for consumer and industrial applications. The AMI 501 is a G2 motion sensor detecting both geomagnetism and gravity. The AMI 601 is both a 3-axis magnetic sensor as well as a 3-axis acceleration sensor. Applications for these sensors include motion-sensing games where the graphical image changes with the controller's movements; control of operating attitudes in automobiles, robots, bikes and unmanned vehicles and aircraft; and navigation functions by combining the sensors with a GPS function.

ULTRASONIC SENSORS

The IRU 2000/3000 ultrasonic sensors are easy to install and offer a detection range from 0.3 to 10.67m and provide a non-contact method of presence/absence detection, proximity detection, or level control in a variety of applications. The IRU 2000/3000 family features a virtually maintenance free design with internal temperature compensation, programmable response time and programmable filtering for reliable operation in harsh application environments. Using the programming options, the colour, translucency, dielectric constant, specific gravity and viscosity of the target media will not affect the operation or accuracy of these ultrasonic sensors.

TORQUE SENSORS

Kistler has recently introduced the following strain-gauge sensors: Type 0143SD with its strain gauge full bridge system and measurement of torque in any direction is suitable for use in screw driving assembly applications. Type 0170MS with integral measuring electronics and wireless signal transfer via telemetry is suitable for use in dynamic detection of starting torque and breakaway torque for bolting and assembly techniques and quality assurance in production environments. GAS SENSOR MODULE

The Sierra Monitor 5100-02-IT Catalytic Bead Combustible Gas Sensor features a six month (180 day) calibration cycle. It provides interface via 420 mA, Modbus RS-485 or Sierra Monitor's proprietary Sentry bus. The module is a standalone module loaded with features required to provide the due diligence expected in hazardous areas.

LIQUID LEVEL CONTROLLER

The LevCon(tm) set point level controller is a self-contained microprocessor controlled system capable of monitoring the level of the wet well and automatically controlling two pumps. The controller has 10 digital input channels, 1 analog input channel and 6 relay output channels. It is equipped with a keypad and a 2 line by 16 character LCD display for level, pump status monitoring, and operation setup. Its functions include: automatic alternation, monitoring low level, monitoring high level, pump run status, pump seal failure, pump over temperature, wet well simulation, logging pump run (for each pump), and logging cycles (for each pump).

FLOW METERS

The Preso PTTF ultrasonic transit time clamp-on integral mount flow meter uses time of flight ultrasonic technology to measure most clean liquids containing moderate amounts of suspended solids or aeration. The non-invasive unit provides easy installation by clamping on the outside of existing pipe systems ranging in size from 1/2" to 2". It is designed to replace mechanical flow meters in applications where liquid conditions tend to damage or impede mechanical flow meter operation.

ROTARY ENCODERS

The explosion-proof ROD 420 rotary encoder with a standard housing diameter of 58mm features an overall length of only 83mm. The encoder is available with line counts of 250 to 5000. The maximum surface temperature is 120C. Before the housing attains the maximum permissible temperature, an additional temperature sensor triggers a warning signal to return the system to a safe operating condition.

INDUCTIVE PROXIMITY SENSORS

Carlo Gavazzi has released several series of extended range inductive sensors, designed for the needs of today's industrial applications. Sensing ranges for M12 are 4mm flush mount and 8mm non-flush mount. Sensing ranges for M18 are 8mm flush mount and 14mm non-flush mount. Sensing ranges for M30 are 15mm flush mount and 22mm non-flush mount. The sensors have 10-40 VDC supply range, and are available in both 2-wire and 3-wire versions. Outputs are transistor types, with NPN and PNP versions available. The housings are made of nickel-plated brass, allowing the sensors to be both robust and economical.

LINEAR POSITION SENSOR

The Positek "X" line of intrinsically safe linear variable inductive transducer position sensors is designed for use in oil and gas exploration, production, transportation, heavy equipment and factory automation applications. The line includes the X111 intrinsically safe linear position/displacement sensor in the 50-800mm measurement range. Built and calibrated for the user's measurement range, the X111 is highly linear and repeatable, and is offered in a variety of mounting configurations.

ULTRASONIC AND PHOTOELECTRIC SENSORS

AutomationDirect is adding to its line of ultrasonic and photoelectric sensors. The UHZ miniature ultrasonic line of sensors includes four models of rectangular through-beam units specifically designed for applications with limited mounting space. The series has a maximum sensing distance of 300mm, with no dead zone at close range, enabling object sensing at a variety of distances. The FARS series is a standard 18mm tubular diffuse sensor in a non-metal package which features background suppression technology that greatly reduces false readings beyond the specified sensing distance. The MQ series is an AC diffuse photoelectric with a unique 90-degree optic package that allows it to be mounted in locations where space is limited. The HEE/HER series consists of through-beam sensor pairs in a miniature 8mm tubular stainless steel package.

STEEL MILL PRESSURE SENSOR

The AST47SM Series Pressure Sensors are designed to perform in the rugged environments of the steel and aluminum industry. The sensors are a direct plug-in for steel mill applications including rolling mills, pumps, as well as coolant systems. Featuring a one-piece sensing element, the pressure sensors have no silicone oil, welds or O-rings, eliminating the chance of contamination from outside media. A stainless steel housing welded to the sensing element and cable connection withstands system washdowns. The pressure sensors also feature a stress-reduced diaphragm that withstands high-pressure spikes while a special internal restrictor maintains a high frequency response of ~ 1kHz. Units also possess high proof and burst pressure ratings.

LIQUID FLOW SENSORS

The 101 & 102 Series Flo-Sensors provide precise liquid flow measurement. The flow sensors can be constructed from plastic or brass, and provide a 0-5VDC analog output proportional to flow rate. Flow rates can be measured as low as 13mL/minute. With better than +/-3.0% linearity (full scale) and 0.2% repeatability (full scale), these flow totalizing systems provide accurate measurement of liquid flow, suitable for critical flow measurement applications within advanced instrumentation. Compact packaging allows for easy integration into new or existing equipment.

NETWORKING SENSOR

The Tempsonics(r) R-Series EtherCAT sensor is a high-speed networking solution based on industrial Ethernet technology. The EtherCAT sensor, short for 'Ethernet for Control Automation Technology' is an innovative interface for industrial Ethernet that provides the fastest, most deterministic industrial networking possible using the base Ethernet physical layer. It is designed for fastest rates of data transmission and communication in industrial settings where high-speeds are necessary for complete factory automation systems that require a networked solution. LIQUID LEVEL SWITCHES

The O Series optical single-point liquid level detection switches are designed for use in non-coating liquids. These units provide accurate, repeatable switching point detection with no moving parts.
