Hoffman's new Stainless Steel Cable Tray, made of Type 304 stainless steel for corrosion resistance and designed to protect washdown-rated cabling from dust, water or other liquids, is now available. It is designed primarily for use in packaging and/or bottling operations in the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries, but would be suitable in many other areas, including processing. The tray is made of 18-gauge stainless steel with quarter-turn latches and is UL Type 1 rated. It is available with a flat cover or 20-degree sloped cover. Designed with perforations in the bottom of fittings and straight sections, it allows water drainage after washdown.

Low-profile T-handle toggle clamps are now available in two larger sizes, in both steel and stainless steel. All three sizes are available with an optional safety lock that automatically engages when the clamp is closed, then remains locked until manually disengaged by pushing a lever before opening. Air Liquide is introducing automated plasma welding systems in Canada under a new Advanced Fabrication Technologies (AFT) program, the purpose of which is to increase performance and productivity for different types of fabrication. This automated electric welding technology, which has full penetration capacity, allows piping and vessel manufacturers to achieve significant productivity gains and save on both time and materials. With plasma welding, base materials ranging in thickness from 3 to 10 mm can be welded with a square edge butt joint preparation (single pass), without requiring multiple filling passes. In addition, owing to the automated process (vertical or horizontal position) and the low-profile bead shape, post-weld operations are much reduced. This process, which attains variable welding speeds (15 to 50 cm/min depending on the thickness of the base material), can be used to produce complete circular and longitudinal welds in one pass from a single side.

MAXOS, the multi-axis optical CMM, measures precision components in an automatic production environment, with its own proprietary patented non-contact probe. It is a point of white light that allows the collection of individual points at a rate of 70 per second. Like a touch probe CMM it collects individual points but unlike a conventional CMM it continues on its path at high speed and without stopping. It can scan freshly machined surfaces, highly polished surfaces and even mirrors without any need for them to be sprayed with a coating. The MAXOS utilizes the conventional 3 axes of a CMM with two additional axes in its sensor along with 2 optional turntables resulting in up to 7 axes in total. All of these axes can be controlled to ensure smooth and fast movement around all of the points to be measured even on difficult to measure horizontal geometry and blade platforms.
