The OBDM laser sensor switches on the differential distance, rather than the actual distance to an object. This means the sensor can detect small parts even against a background which is constantly moving. Operating range is from16 to 120mm and the part to be detected is simply programmed through a teach function. Five different algorithms are available, allowing the sensor to be used as a simple detector, or a tolerance checking device. The OBDM is a single sensor, handling applications which otherwise require an analog distance sensor and a PLC or other logic device.
