The Series VV061-CUBE manifold comes with 6mm width 3 port valves which can be used to operate small bore cylinders or as a pilot valve to operate air operated valves. It combines valve, printed circuit board, base and fittings as one compact CUBE structured unit for space saving and easy maintenance. The VV061 manifold is used in various applications including analytical devices, medical equipment, electronic and semiconductor equipment. It is available in 4 and 8 station configurations. The manifold comes with two types of pipe connections, with barb fittings to accept 4mm OD tubing and with 2mm one touch fitting.

The Ball Lock™ Mounting System style features an interlocking "jigsaw" pattern which permits multiple vises to closely nest together, maximizing workpiece density on a fixture while simultaneously allowing changeover of entire vises in a minute. Kennametal is introducing a new solid-carbide Long-Length Drill, specifically designed for drilling and small-diameter, deep holes into automotive crankshafts, camshafts, connecting rods, cylinder heads, cylinder blocks, and hydraulic blocks for anti-locking braking systems. The point has a four-margin design that helps maintain stability throughout the cut. These margins are located on the forward portion of the drill only. The diameters behind the flutes is slightly smaller in diameter providing more chip clearance and less contact with the hole wall. The hydraulically-activated clamps are available either in top or bottom flange styles with either single or double-acting actions. Either style can be manifold-mounted, utilizing #2 SAE ports, or can be plumbed conventionally through two #4 SAE ports. Three sizes are available, with clamping capacities from 1,100 to 5,000 lbs. The clamps' piston rotates 90° to the right in its standard configurations, but may be ordered with either a 90° left rotation or no rotation. The Isys HA (26mm) and HB (18mm) ISO 15407-1 valves are equipped with a central 4-pin M12 connector that provides a single electrical connection for single and double solenoids via a cord set linked to an M12 field bus output module or I/O distribution block. The hydrostatic test system is designed for testing hoses from 4,500 up to 60,000 psi. The unit is equipped with two Maximator air driven liquid pumps. One for operation from 4,500 to 30,000 psi and the second from 30,000 to 60,000 psi. The system is operated from a touch screen panel controlling a PLC. A typical test would be to pre-fill, pressurize to a preset pressure, hold for desired time, print test report and vent. Safety devices are included to prevent operation in any unsafe condition. The system can also be operated manually.

The Dual Layer Colour-Coded PEEK tubing eliminates any concern that a critical sample could be contaminated by pigments used to colour code the tubing. It looks like any other colour-coded tubing at first glance, but a closer look reveals that the pigmented layer surrounds a separate but integrally-bonded inner layer of natural PEEK. The pressure performance is equivalent to single-layer tubing. The 1/16" OD tubing is available in OEM quantities with any ID specified and is available in a wide range of colours, striped or solid.

Air assisted airless spray finishing requires piston pumps to pressure feed the spray gun. Binks' Fluid Delivery Product Manager, Chris Poe, offers the following preventive maintenance guidelines to help ensure long pump life, as well as continued quality finishing:

* Never dry-run the pump. Make sure the finishing material doesn't run out while the pump is operating. The coating itself acts as a coolant and protects against heat and erosion.

* Keep adequate solvent in the solvent cup. The solvent cup cleans and lubricates the piston rod. Allowing the cup to run dry will reduce the life of the pump's fluid section.

* Periodically check the pump's stroke rate. The rise and fall rates of most pumps should remain even. An uneven stroke rate usually signals a problem.

* Use clean and dry compressed air. Dirty/humid compressed air reduces the life of the air motor and leads to increased maintenance costs. Using a simple filter/regulator is one of the most cost-effective ways to extend pump life.

* Select the pump that delivers material at less than its rated flow rate. Doubling the speed can cause an 8-fold increase on pump wear. Pumps should run no more than 25% of maximum flow, or less than 15 cycles per minute.

* Select a pump that can run applications between 30% ­ 70% of its maximum delivery pressures and maintain it. Running the pump at too high a pressure subjects your air motor and seals to friction and increased wear. Keeping the pressure at a lower level allows the air motor to perform quickly and efficiently.

* Use bigger, slower pumps for abrasive materials. While a stain might run problem-free through a pump, the same pump filled with more abrasive material might need to run more slowly to avoid wear and premature failure.
