M-Series sensors are being used by dairy manufacturers to provide accurate level and temperature measurement for clean-in-place tanks. MTS M-Series sensors' accuracy enables manufacturers to quickly clean their system thoroughly and responsibly in compliance with industry regulations on the cleaning of dairy processing equipment.

Clean-in-Place (CIP) is a cleaning process where the interior surfaces of pipes, tanks, and other equipment are thoroughly washed without having to disassemble the entire system. In the dairy industry, CIP tanks are necessary in order to comply with federal regulations on hygiene and cleanliness in food processing. Modern computer controls have vastly improved the cleaning processes and enable dairy manufacturers to separate various circuits of the CIP system for different types of cleaning solutions.

The cleaning solution is housed in the make-up tank and is pumped through the system using high-velocity pumps. Throughout the process M-Series sensors provide vital diagnostic information on the level of solution in the tank as well as the temperature of the solution. Once the cleaning solution has been dispersed, a rinse tank flushes the system with cool water not exceeding 80°C.

The accurate and reliable MTS level sensors have a non-linearity of 0.02% and a repeatability of 0.001%. The sensors are maintenance-free with no recalibration needed and are available in digital and analog formats. The M-Series analogue sensor has a gauge order length of 500mm to 2540mm and an output of 4-20mA. The sensors are available with a variety of outputs, such as DeviceNet, Profibus DP, 4-20mA with HART, and Modbus.

Karcher has introduced a new all-electric hot water pressure washer ideal for indoor cleaning. It generates instant hot water spray with the pull of a trigger and does so without an open flame or hazardous fumes. It runs so quietly it can be installed inside a closet or under a stairway. There are two models in the series with cleaning power ranging from 3.5 to 4.2 gpm and from 2,000 to 3,000 psi of pressure. Both models operate on electrical power of 460-volt, 3-phase. The water is heated in a stainless steel coil submerged in a tank containing a special water solution designed to produce highly efficient heat transfer.

A full line of HemiPleat™ retrofit cartridges may be used to upgrade performance or solve problems of existing dust collectors. It features a patent-pending pleating technology that opens up the pleats uniformly for more efficient cleaning and better airflow. This filtration upgrade can greatly extend service life and reduce pressure drop. NA Poly Round® bearings reduce downtime associated with failures of rolling element bearings in extreme environments. The bearings are lubricant-free Class 3 plane bearings and can operate at temperatures up to 200°F, loads up to 2,000 psi and speeds up to 1000 rpm on a 1 inch shaft. They do not fail catastrophically, allowing the convenience of planned maintenance cycles. Their plane bearing surface eliminates the need for lubrication and the available bearing surface is observable so that amount of wear can be determined with a visual inspection. When the bearings eventually wear out, they do not damage the shaft or contaminate the environment. The maintenance staff simply replaces the insert and the machine is back up and running.

The Zebra B Series belt skimmer line was previously standard with a fixed lower pulley, which was inappropriate for longer reach belts. Due to increased demands for a solution for deep applications, Zebra has designed a hanging pulley system to fit with the upper body of the series. This series still fits a 1" wide, polyurethane or stainless steel belt, but can now reach up to 15'. The design also allows for retrofit of existing B Series units already in the field.
