PNEUMATIC CRIMPER
crimps all popular styles of battery and electrical connectors

It didn't take long for Mike Moeller, president of Remy Battery, to know that the Quick Cable HexCrimp Pneumatic Crimper was going to make life easier for his business and, more importantly, his employees. In fact, the HexCrimp pneumatic crimper has replaced most of the tabletop and handheld crimpers previously used at Remy.

"We love it," said Moeller about the HexCrimp pneumatic crimper. "We love the relative speed with which you can crimp and the flexibility to run all size gauges of cables through the unit, especially the large gauge cables. Another advantage is that when we would previously use the tabletop or handheld crimpers, they would cause so much wear and tear on our guys. You don't have that with the pneumatic crimper. It's efficient, and you can easily go from doing a run of 20 cables of one size to doing a run of 1,000 of another. It's so easy to use that you don't need to do a lot of training."

Engineered and manufactured by Quick Cable, the HexCrimp has five distinct features:

1. It can crimp connectors and wire from 8 gauge to 4/0, including straight clamps, elbows, flags and lugs. It also crimps SBs and DIN connectors, and is the only machine that will safely and successfully crimp flag connectors.

2. All crimps are secure and exceed UL and SAE standards with over 20,000 pounds of crimp force.

3. The unit comes in a turnkey operation...bolt down the unit, connect an air supply of 80-100 psi and you're ready to crimp.

4. The eight-position adjustable dies allow users to change settings with a simple touch of the pin.

The easy-to-use foot pedal allows you to keep your hands free to handle the piece you're crimping. You get secure crimps in just three seconds.

"This machine is designed to save time and money for the user," said Ken Bons, Quick Cable vice president of sales and marketing. "It's easy to set up, easy to use, and easy to maintain. It is truly universal in its usage and all you need is a single-air inlet; no electrical power is required."

DISPENSING VALVE

The model MV-0180 PNM needle valve for anaerobic resins has been designed with a low density plastic wetted chamber, so that the anaerobic resin does not come into contact with the metal body of the valve. It includes a stroke adjuster for final tuning of shot size and is an excellent high duty valve for precise deposits of anaerobic fluids.

AIR POWERED CONVEYOR

EXAIR's new Heavy Duty Line Vac™ is a powerful in-line conveyor that transports high volumes of material through ordinary hose or tube. Commonly used to transfer complex shapes, bulk solids and waste, the units feature large throat diameters that make it possible to convey more material over long vertical and horizontal lengths. The Heavy Duty Line Vac ejects a small amount of compressed air through directed nozzles into the throat to produce a vacuum at one end and high output flows on the other, Response is instantaneous. The material conveying rate is easily controlled with a pressure regulator. An optional bracket permits easy mounting. No moving parts or electricity assures maintenance free operation. Applications include part transfer, hopper loading, material conveying, waste/trim removal, fiber tensioning, chip removal, and filling operations.

KAPPA CONTROLLER

Stanley announces the new Kappa controller designed to optimize DC electric threaded fastening for error proofing. The controller measures actual torque and compares it to quality limits. It is also compatible with the full range of QPM DC electric tools, from 0.6 to 2000 Nm and higher. A single DC electric tool can be set up to assemble joints of different target torque levels. The Kappa system includes Adaptive Tightening Control (ATC) which automatically adjusts for different joint designs and part variations during each tightening cycle. ATC dynamically manages speed and power to the motor in order to control fastening.

THIN FILM ELEMENTS

The F2020 Series platinum thin film elements are equal in accuracy to many wire wound elements, but with a much faster response. The temperature range is 70 to 500°C and they are available in configurations in Class-A, Class-B and 1/3 DIN accuracies. Their actual size -- 2.0 x 2.0 x 0.8mm -- make them suitable for use in tight places and the flat profile allows for easy surface mounting. The Omegafilm® elements are suitable for use in gas chromatography, lab freezers & ovens, pharmaceuticals, meat processing, semiconductor manufacturing, automotive testing, as well as in chemical, water petroleum, appliance, machine building, IC manufacturing.

ASSEMBLY SYSTEM

The Autoload™ MK4.0 assembly tool feeds blind fasteners continuously and directly to the application tool nosepiece. When fasteners on one mandrel are spent, a fully loaded batch automatically replaces it. The switchover takes six seconds versus 30 seconds for manual load systems. The MK4.0 places the full range of Avdel® Speed Fastening® types in many standard sizes. These include Avdel® Briv® speed fasteners for large bearing areas in soft materials, Avdel® Rivscrew® threaded rivets and Avdel® Chobert® speed fasteners for light clamp to reduce potential damage to soft and brittle materials.

SCREW-IN CONNECTOR

The combination screw-in connector, made of zinc-plated steel, is compatible with 80/20's 15, 40 and 45 series T-slotted aluminum profiles. This fastener makes 90 degree connections of T-slotted profiles without machining. These connectors may be positioned in two opposite T-slots for a stronger connection. The connector assembly includes a threaded barrel, M8 socket head cap screw and drop-in T-nut.

WAFER PRE-ALIGNMENT

The In-Sight® 1820 vision-based wafer pre-aligner determines wafer position and orientation in less than half a second. Utilizing NotchMatch™ alignment technology, the tool aligns wafers with a center position accuracy of +/-15um and an orientation accuracy of +/-0.05 degrees. The system is able to handle changing wafer sizes and types with simple parameter changes. Its non-contact design minimizes wafer handling and potential damage to the wafer.
