MONTREAL: Bombardier Aerospace has lifted the veil on China Express Airlines, the undisclosed Chinese customer in a previously announced CRJ900 NextGen sale that could involve up to 11 CRJ900 NexGen aircraft.
The conditional order made in October for six CRJ900s with options fro five more was disclosed during the Canada China Business Forum held Feb. 9 in Beijing, which was attended by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Pierre Beaudoin, president and CEO of Montreal-based Bombardier Inc.
The initial order is valued at US$264 million and could increase to $491 million if the options are exercised.
China Express, China's first private regional airline, is based in Guiyang, Guizhou and currently provides regional passenger services with its fleet of five Bombardier CRJ200 aircraft.
More than 80 Bombardier aircraft, including CRJ Series and Q-Series commercial aircraft, as well as Learjet, Challenger and Global business jets, are currently operating in China.
